Stunning Ace At WA Blind Open!

Posted on September 16, 2019

Most golfers can only chase the elusive hole-in-one. For Perth local Peter Heinrich, his first came in the WA Blind Golf Open at Collier Park Golf last week.

Not only is Peter visually impaired, but he switched from playing left handed to right handed only last year, to maximise the remaining vision in his left eye.  With the assistance of his caddie, Carol Mills, Peter landed the ace on the Par-3 11th hole on the Island course at Collier Park on the last day of the WA championship.

Peter’s ace was just one of many amazing feats in the week of golf at Collier Park that showcased the best blind and visually impaired golfers from around Australia.

The WA Championship was won by Brad Carver and acted as a forerunner to the national ISPS Handa Australia Blind Golf Open.  Queenslander Glenn Niciejewski, a prominent character on the Blind Golf circuit, took out the national title with a score of 9-under.

Our congratulations go to all of the participants in Blind Golf, who show the courage to not let their loss of sight defeat them.
